Estrid Åkermark

Estrid Åkermark (b.1998 in Stockholm) began her artistic journey early on, with dreams of becoming an artist being a given since day one. In upper secondary school she made LUNDSBERG, a skinned lamp shade with burn marks made by an iron, creating a buzz on social media while it was exhibited at Liljevalchs konsthall. Experiencing all of this at age 16, Åkermark realised the power of communication in art. She went on to study at Gerlesborgsskolan in Stockholm for a year, to then be accepted to Umeå Academy of Fine Arts. At university, she further discovered her love for technology and further introduced it into her artistic practice with animations and 3D-printing. Åkermark creates fantasy-like worlds, large scale installations combining various mediums and techniques. She does not shy away from being vulnerable through her art, nor controversial. Åkermark has exhibited her artworks with institutions such as Liljevalchs Konsthall, Moderna Museet, London Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week.
