For 2 years, Andreas Eriksson worked with a massive painting, 11 meters high, for the main entrance to the New Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm. Eriksson's main source of inspiration consists of landscapes and nature. His typically classic oil painting brings a humanistic and poetic dimension to high-tech hospital environment. The exhibition at Skissernas museum includes a model of the main entrance as well as a sample of the powerful ash frame, an important part of the design that will enfold the painting and continue along the concrete walls of the shaft. There show also presents 20 smaller-sized paintings in acrylic on canvas produced in the same time period as the great works for Karolinska. The exhibition includes an interview where the artist talks about the mission of the New Karolinska Solna and his art practice. The museum also shows the artistic process through a selection of the many photographs taken during Eriksson plant creation to document the work process before it blends in the finished painting.
