Do you enjoy uploading corny sunsets on Facebook? No worries – according to artist Lars Olof Loeld the worn-out cliché is a sort of manual to reach Nirvana. This is his solo show, Vid stranden av solnedgången uppmärksammas tystnaden at Norrköpings Konstmuseum.
All of Loeld’s paintings are variations on the same theme – the blue lines represent the water and the glowing pink background is the sky. The lines also form two alchemical triangles – symbols for the elements fire (upward tip) and water (downward) – that combine into a golden six-pointed star as the sun descents into the ocean. Perplexed – not at all! It is the exact same thing as when the cool kids admire the sunset below Café del Mar on Ibiza. Divine!
