Wetterling Gallery is proud to present the exhibition Solid Body, Fluid Mind by the Swedish painter Dina Isæus-Berlin.
Isæus-Berlin's process-based practice considers a search for the very essence of art making – how do we make something? Her interest circles around the moment of becoming and how altered circumstances of that moment affects the outcome. Her non-figurative paintings, often large in scale, show the marks of a body in motion, indexical signs tracing back to her movement, knowledge and current condition and yet talking about themselves and the history of their own genesis. The rhythm of the gestures is shifting and as a beholder you are left to unravel the succession. Dina Isæus-Berlin’s work asks questions about different types of knowledge, both intellectual but foremost practical, and how various layers of know-how can be reached through different states of mind.
Dina Isæus-Berlin, born 1991, lives and works in Stockholm. In 2017 she received a BFA from Konstfack University of Arts, Craft and Design in Stockholm. Isæus-Berlin has been exhibited at Konstnärshuset, Nicolai Wallner Gallery, Copenhagen, Liljevalchs Konsthall’s Spring Salon and at Gerichtshöfe, Berlin with Enter Art Foundation.
