For her imaginary world, Annika Johansson’s uses fragments from different sources: private picture album, the history of art, patterns from popular culture; in a stage room shaped as landscape or an interior all co-exists pictorially.
”Hot spots” is a new series of small round paintings on draughting film with simple composition of a patterned drapery, illuminated by spotlights, which makes the gaze being sucked into the picture. Suddenly you are a part of the picture, as the beholder who beholds the beholder and vice versa.
