Katarina Klingspor Ekelund
We are pleased to present “now”, Katarina Klingspor Ekelund’s third solo exhibition in the gallery. In a retrospective eye, one can find that her work belongs to the genre “Slow Art”. The specific thing in Slow Art is that it is carried out with great care and precision during the working process over a long time. The slowness, repetition is patience-provoking work seldom without preparatory sketches. The drawing line is made through a soft touch of the pencil toward the sheet. The neat line runs tightly, becomes like a memory, a print that creates different shades which shifts depending on the daily mood. The lines two ends point simultaneously at a resolution and return, as in eternal flow. “When the drawing project of the big drawing started, I experienced the work as worrying, but at the same time tickling in a timely manner. When I was somewhere in the middle of the drawing, there was a noticeable calm and a sense of here and now. Then towards the end, the feeling of restlessness, impatience. The line has embodied my time flow but also my limitation.”
Besides her drawings, some objects will be presented. The sculpture called nn came through a mindset, where similarity and each other’s diametrical opposites meet in one and the same form.
In her previous work, the deconstruction of nature and the questioning of habitual ideas have been presented in various ways. Last on the gallery 2015 with the work Flower field, a compressed meadow of flowers preserved in a cubic form. The disassembly is recurring work processes that are subsequently rebuilt in new order or disorder.
