They come from the dark. As materialized from a parallel universe, crawling, clawing, persistant, they roam. Reminders of the unseen, I wait for them. The nocturnal wanderers
Lisa Wallerts’ works evolve from the tactility of the present body, in relation to the eternal absence and the transience of everything. She works through ceramic sculpture in black clay, which she fires in reduction. The firing gives the objects a metal-like surface in contradiction to the fragility of the material. Her work holds a tearing sense between appealing and intimidating, static and organic, life and death. The body, in relation to the material and the world, is both her theme and her method. It is a basic prerequisite to experience and make objects; the body is the subject, the object and the execution in her work. She is inspired by nature, as well as popular culture whithin the genre horror, Sci-Fi and Black Metal.
Lisa Wallert lives and works in Stockholm and she has her studio in the old porcelaine factory in Gustavsberg. She received her MFA in 2016 at Konstfack, University College of Arts Craft & Design, and has received several grants. She is represented in private collections as well as in public installations.
