I WANT TO BE HEARD, I WANT TO BE FOUND

Large bronze sculptures of children and young adults wearing jeans and hoodies stand or sit on wheeled plates. The universal adolescent ennui aside, they appear to be waiting for something. The sculptures are informed by the artist’s encounters with asylum seekers, refugees and children living in orphanages. Wester often starts his projects by setting up an open studio in a particular place with the sole aim of getting to know the people who lives there. The stories he collects from these encounters form the basis for his artworks. This show also features video work and photographs.
