HIDE & SEEK - THINGS ARE NOT WHAT THEY SEEM

In nature camouflage is a way for animals to find protection and shelter but it also creates mystery, an optical illusion that gives you the feeling that you have to investigate closely what you are looking at to understand it. Curiosity and entomology is a shared interest for Anna Forsberg and Märta Mattsson. Anna´s father used to travel the world to collect specimens of butterflies and moths while Märta´s mother used to collect dead wasps and other animals she found in the woods in Sweden. Being exposed to dead insects displayed in cabinets of curiosities, resulted in a shared mutual fascination for these little creatures but their own artistic approach to working with insects stems from opposite emotions.

Medverkande konstnärer

Märta Mattsson, born 1982, is a jewelry artist and educated at the Royal College of Art in London and at the Royal Institute of Arts and Crafts in Gothenburg. Märta is represented at the Röhsska Museum and National Museum, the Schmuck Museum in Pforzheim and the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) in New York. Anna Forsberg, born 1982, is a entrepreneurial designer. Formerly proprietor of the Spunk Design store, a platform for exposure of young artists and designers. In 2012, the current company Makeda was founded on the vision of combining textile crafts with art and graphic design.
