Formal, rigid and forbidding are synonyms for austere. But the word that best describes the works of these three artists is stringent. Their individual approaches to the medium and to their own process are radically different, but each expression is rigorously executed. Jansson presents formal shapes, in her classical unglazed stoneware. The restrictions that Bellander puts on her work affect their outcome and she often combines different materials. Kristoffersson makes three-dimensional paintings in ceramics. This show is a brilliant introduction to three contemporary artists working with clay.
