When Det Nya Museet re-opens this weekend with the exhibition Atwater by American artist Erik-Mark Sandberg it will be for the last time in their current premises.
The title Atwater is derived from the diverse neighborhood by the Los Angeles River where the artist lives and works. His work is an exploratory comment to the relationships between contemporary systems and forms, echoing the decadence of Los Angeles. The large monochromatic wall paintings in the current exhibition focus on the mirage of idealized hybrid landscapes. Its graphic structure comment on the tensions between the the realities of the population and utopian environment
