Dorina Mocan

I came to Sweden in the early 80's as an artist with a diploma from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cluj, in my native Romania. My successful career has since involved many assignments and exhibitions both nationally and internationally. My figurative works' underlying thoughts and feelings are based on the enchanting encounters of all kinds with a person, an object or an event. Via and beyond the concrete choice of motifs, the crucial thing in my creative process is to evoke / make visible the human, humanitarian and universal spirit, a kind of inner light turned directly to the viewer for the experience of my works. This is my driving force and the common denominator of my paintings. I care that my art should contain this dimension, as a bearer of humanistic tradition and hope. The light that stands in contrast to the dark and (self) destructive sides within us as individuals and within our civilization.
