Ateneum has the biggest collections of classical art in Finland. It has also featured works by Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, Marc Chagall and other international masters.
Among the guests of temporary exhibitions in Ateneum were Tove Jansson, Pablo Picasso, Carl Jansson and Helene Schjerfbeck. Currently, Ateneum exhibits «Stories of Finnish Art» which provide insight into development of Finnish art from the beginning of 19th century up until the 1960s. Together with Finnish masterpieces, on display are also works by Le Corbusier, Edvard Munch, Ilya Repin and other international masters.
